The Dark Rose is nice. I'd almost forgotten about the rest of my C&S samples.

Vinny (Joe McClaine) I always read the extra bits of SOTD posts, and would definitely like to see the tash.
Ayup Ian, I will post something eventually.

I see Czech & Speake are re-releasing Dark Rose. How does it compare to #88 ?

Had hoped the Rooney would be similar to the Duke 3. Well, it is nearly identical in size and shape, but is much more dense, and so lacks the flow-through of the Duke. Had to go back to the puck a couple of times. I'll give it a few days and see if the shaves get better.

Regards,
This is why I love the Rooney Style 2 Size 1. I have owned a 3/1 and a rooney stubby, as well as various other simpsons both pre and post vulfix. In my opinion, the 2/1 combines the great characteristic of rooney density with the flow through of other, less dense brushes. I've been loving my 2/1 so much (and I really only use soaps) that I've rid myself of all other brushes.

The 3/1 was a lovely brush but I wanted to upgrade and see what I was missing. The stubby was just too dense, even though I do appreciate the feel of a rooney heritage against my face.

The 2/1 is in the middle. It produces loads of lather like a kent but it is dense enough to give a scrub. Comparitively speaking, the 2/1 is closest in my opinion to the pre-V Duke 3, just a bit smaller. Really a great brush.

If you pick one up, I think you will find that it is a quite diffferent brush from the style 1s. A bit less density goes a long way.

Scott
Scott, thanks. That's good information. I've got a 3/1 loaner headed my way, so I'll try the 1/2 and then the 3/1. Hopefully between the two I'll have some inspiration to try a 2/1. I really didn't mean to expand my brush selection at this stage, but your description of the 2/1 is very appealing.

Thank you again.

Tim

Tim, I'll second Scott's assessment of the 2/1. Though the handle was a tad small, it lathered soaps and creams like crazy. Sometimes I wish I had kept it.

Hadn't used this razor or cream in a long while: the cream is as good as I remembered, but the razor seemed heavier than necessary, awkward compared to the SuperSpeeds I've been using recently. Can't fault the shave, though.

Glenn, you get tired of that razor, you let me know. I'd be only too happy to relieve you of it. :)
