I've tried to be a purist with the Fat..When I started with this soap a few moths ago, a 31064 produced a thick pasty lathered face..Since then things have gone downhill..Even after a Month Long Soap Journey with the Fat, the lather is still unacceptable and at times unusable..I can report that no amount of brush loading/water ratio adjusting has helped..The water in Southern California is very hard..In the beginning I did boil the water..But in the interest of preserving my badger brushes, I discontinued this practice when not using the 31064..It is a good brush, just not my favorite..
Perhaps I've queered this puck somehow..But there are just too many air bubbles in whatever is supposed to be lather..A small dollop of shave cream seems to produce a usable substance for shaving..But the Fat and I just can't seem to go it alone..If others weren't having great results, I would think it was an inferior product..I may not find the answer in the first puck..But I will look a bit longer..
Respect to all of you who are certain I'm wasting valuable resources on lousy soap with so many superior options available..A while back I had a stroke..The Docs said I'd be dead in a hour..I was in a coma seven days, in the hospital three months..Came home on a brace, cane, and an arm in a sling..In the early days I lost my ability to speak too..Skipping lots of details and most of the challenges, fast forward 40 years, and I'm still here, thank God!! I type with one hand so I don't post much, except for SOTD..But I guess what I'm really saying is, sometimes I've just got to ignore the obstacles to get to where I'm headed..
Thanks for letting me hang out here..If anybody thinks that's a sob story and you'd care to play a little nine-ball, tell me what you need to win....
Best regards,
Julian

Julian,we're all glad that you're here to join us in our screwball little hobby. I'm with you on the woolfat.I've given it a run several times now to no avail, and I have really good water. I still pull it out on occassion thinking I've got it whipped, but I'm always wrong. Thanks for the great SOTD post!
