Good Sunday morning all...

Geneva Cutlery 5/8
Omega #31025
Mama Bear's Dublin Tweed ss
Humphrey's WH
Aqua Velva a/s
Woods of Windsor Edt

After a day off from shaving a fine shave with the Geneva straight (with a Tech/Feather touch up). I added a couple of drops of glycerin to the Humphrey's witch hazel and passed on the usual balm portion of the after shave routine. The glycerin did not detract from the astringent quality of the Humphrey's but I find that as I write this my face feels slightly tacky, but certainly comfortable. Since I bought three bottles of AV I figured I should at least use it and did so with great pleasure. The Woods of Windsor is a very nice finish and does not seem to be affected by the AV (especially since both were applied to different places).

Sunday Shave

Post by Nick Freeh »

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Razor: Progress XL
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Best
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum & Sweet Orange
A/S: Dickinson’s Witch Hazel followed by Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns toner

This was my first shave with an Ogallala soap--irritation free and very near BBS. The Iridium is a sharp blade, so the cushioning must have been sufficient, if not quite that of MWF or Tabac (Ogallala is veggie based). The Bay Rum and Sweet Orange scent was very pleasant but light, not at all cloying, and soon gone.

The Ogallala aftershave provided an excellent finish. I love that stuff! My face feels great, but I should mention that I do not have particularly sensitive skin.

Sunday Morning:

Hot Shower/Proraso Glycerin Cleansing Bar/Hot Towel
1953 Gillette 40's Style SS
Swedish Gillette (Shave #2)
C&E BBB
Palmolive Classic SC
Brut A/S
Vaseline IRML Lotion

I really enjoyed this morning's shave. I know I say it every time I use it, but the European Palmolive Classic truly is a diamond in the rough. Great scent, great lather, great moisturizing properties and just an all around GREAT performer. The Brut after shave is a true classic and a must own for any wet shaver. Great stuff.
