Thursday's Shave:

6/8 Dubl Duck Satinedge
SRD Webbing/ Bridle
DR Harris Arlington Shaving Soap
Semogue 1305
Dominica Bay Rum w/ Lime

Along with my new TI, I also took this Duck to the coticule and it really helped the edge. What was once a tad bit harsh, was now very smooth.

  • Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
  • Brush: The Ever Roddy 300
  • Cream: Floris Sandalwood
  • Razor: '09 Gillette Old Type with Single Ring Handle
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (shave 6)
  • Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
  • A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel & C&E Sandalwood ASB
  • EDT: C&E Sandalwood EDT
  • Result: Love the Floris cream. Nice scent, not too strong, not too weak. Nice slick cushiony lather provided a BBS shave. I really like the aggressiveness of the Single Ring. Need to be a bit careful or I draw blood.

Thursday Morning:

Hot Shower/Proraso Glycerin Cleansing Bar/Hot Towel
1955 Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed
Swedish Gillette (Shave #3)
Rooney Style 3, Super
Proraso Red SC
Italian Floid A/S
Vaseline IRML Lotion

I've gotten some really great lather results these last two shaves and the only thing that I'm doing differently is I'm adding a fair amount of water to the bowl with the cream before I take a shaken out brush to it. Seems to be working very well for me. I'll continue along with it and see how it goes. I got a pretty smooth shave from a used up Swedish Gillette blade. I usually get between 2 and 3 shaves with the Swede so this is normal. I really felt the burn after the application of the Floid but it dissipated quickly and I was ready to go after that. Another great shave.

Nathan, my camera broke down this past summer and I feel I should have at least a couple of pictures if I'm going to review such a legendary soap.

Thursday night:

Brush: C&E BBB
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: 7 O'Clock Yellow
Cream: TOBS Shave Shop
A/S: Wesley & Scott Lightly Mentholated Balm

Not a bad shave, could have been better but my hands are all chapped to hell from work and the weather that I rushed through it. May just break down and get a few MWF products now.

Very sharp looking brush, Matt!

Thursday Night:

GEM Featherweight razor
GEM/Personna Stainless blade

Semogue 740 brush (pure badger, short acrylic handle)
Cella Crema Sapone da Barba

Thayer's Peach Witch Hazel (Astringent: 10% alcohol, no -parabens, no burn)

At this point, I really don't like the GEM stainless blades. Though they are "smoother," they are enough duller than the carbon steel blades (Treet and GEM Blue Star) that I have to apply more pressure to achieve the same cut, and this results in added irritation.
