Friday, February 5, 2010 -Grandpa Shave Friday
Razor: Gem G-Bar
Blade: Ted Pella
Brush: Simpsons Ehsan
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Penhaligon's English Fern
A/S: Taylor Mr. Taylor
OK...so my grandpa probably would not have used any of these products. There was no Internet and he only used American made products that were available in a small town. Whatever! The Gem G-Bar with the Ted Pella blade gave an outstanding shave aided no doubt by Penhaligon's superior lather and the sheer excellence of the Simpson's Ehsan brush. Mr. Taylor aftershave remains a favorite.

MERKUR HD
IRIDIUM SUPERS
VULFIX 1002
MITCHELL'S WOOL FAT
WITCH HAZEL 15% Alcohol
100% cotton italian FILI D'ORO washcloths
SOFT WATER-VONS GROCERY
BOIS DE PORTUGAL 2nd portion of sampler vial
It's a cold and wet winter's day. A good time to err on caution's side and stay home as the fall of rain is punctuated by sirens.
The time I took in every preparation would make a japanese tea ceremony take notice.
It paid off.
My only desire is to upgrade to a EHSAN brush or BK4

Yeah, Lynn, thanks to Matthew, we both got very lucky with the purchase. I've never seen one, and I don't recall anyone on the forum mentioning anything about one. Bet drP. has one!woodsrider wrote:Thanks, David!
I still can't get over yours and Matt's pics of the Emillion Finest...stunning!!
Regards,
David

Very nice Colonel, Bob -- wow!
Matt, I only have two shaves under my belt with the Astor, but I think it's going to be a keeper! Nice handle/loft combination. Good density and feel. I'm going to keep using it for a few days and collect additional data points....all in the name of research, you know?mmortus wrote:Thanks, Lynn!! How did you like the new Astor today?
