Simfix Grosvenor LE 2 Band Super
Gem G-Bar.
Gem Carbon Steel
Geo. F. Trumper Rose SS
Thayers Rose WH
Realm ASB
This was the first shave with Grosvenor..While I am hardly an expert, this is a very nice brush..The tips are very, very, soft, and very, very, white..It loaded effortlessly creating more than enough lather for three passes plus..I've seen others refer to LE as "a great everyday brush.." I would agree and add that everyday would be that much more luxurious using the Grosvenor..The flow through was more than adequate for the first lather..Thursday I used a Wee Scot 14mm knot, and Friday I used the Grosvenor 21mm knot which seemed much larger than that..The Handle in faux ivory is well matched to this knot and 50mm loft, it is heavy enough to suggest that this is a serious brush without calling attention to itself..I can see the Simfix retiring several brushes that are in my current rotation..I'm looking forward to Saturday's shave already..
Now about Phil/Bullgoose Shaving..I received confirmation of my order at 6:32 AM Thursday morning and I was shaving with the LE by 11:30 AM the next day..He also included some very generous samples among which was a tube of Realm After Shave Balm that was outstanding..It left my skin feeling very soft. and supple all day..There was also a sample of Alt Innsbruck EDC, and an alum block..Phil, thanks for your generosity, a great brush, the emails and a real smooth transaction..
We've been told that this brush might not be available after the current "40" are sold..That would be a shame as I am sure there are many of us that would appreciate this terrific brush at a terrific price..If you didn't get one of the first "40" I hope your dreams still come true....
Best regards

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:
old Macys badger
FH Tech/Iridium
vintage Yardley SS
Lumene AS Balm
TGQ 'Leatherneck' extrait
I picked up this Tech recently and figured I'd take it for a spin today. I have a bunch of these types and like em for a nice change of pace. Sigh.....not one of my better efforts this morning.
I believe I screwed up the lather a little....least I think that's the problem. It may be this particular razor's more aggressive than most other Techs, or the new blade I put in isn't quite right, but I'd bet it's the lather. Didn't load the brush enough maybe....who knows.
A less comfortable and close shave than I normally achieve was the results.........sheeesh!

Razor: Jaggerooney
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super
Cream: Erasmic
A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Speick Balm
Unlike (IMO) the reformulated Erasmic shave stick, the Erasmic cream is a very pleasant and efficacious shave product. I enjoy the scent, too, which is an important part of the experience. The Jaggerooney (Jagger/Muehle head with a Rooney handle in faux horn), paired with a Super Iridium blade, delivered a DFS+, irritation-free shave. And the Speick balm was an excellent finish on this chilly, rainy day.
