Good day, Monday

Muhle R89 with Derby
Simpson Chubby 1
Speick shave soap & aftershave
vetiver essential oil

... I might not have much need for my vetiver colognes anymore. I much prefer straight up vetiver essential oil. It's earthy stuff indeed. Nice longevity without too much projection. Subtle but present.

Thanks, Andy! The brush is an eBay pick-up, because I liked the solid black and transparent green handle. The base says "Buffalo - Pure Badger Cased" which I take as
-the manufacturer's name and
-the original bristles were boar in the center, ringed with badger

The knot was worn out when I received the brush, so I put in a Golden Nib 2-band finest badger knot. The handle was enlarged from a 19mm socket to accept a 22mm knot. I probably should have set it lower in the handle, but it feels very nice, so there's no reason to change it now.

It's definitely my favorite brush, because of the look and the feel. Thanks for asking.

  • Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
  • Brush: The Knotty Badger Chubby 2 refurbed with Silvertip Badger
  • Cream: Cade by L'Occtane
  • Razor: '73 Stick Schick Injector
  • Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated injector (shave 6)
  • Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
  • A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & AOS Lavender ASB
  • EDT: Nine Flags Patcham from Hong Kong Cologne
  • Result: In a bit of a hurry today so I used the Stick Schick which seems to give a BBS shave in hurry each time I use it. No nicks or weepers either. Second time I have used Rodd's refurb creation and I really like how he set the knot a bit deeper in the handle than the two others he has done for me. Makes for a really dense knot and I like that sometimes. The brush really holds the wonderful lather it makes and allows me enough lather for 3 great passes.
