40s SuperSpeed
Treet blade fresh from the wrapper
Tabac
Kent BK4

This was an incredible shave. Even better than the legendary Z3 Flare-tip with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow combination.

Pinaud Bay Rum and now on to that most pressing question: Pancakes or Waffles?

Razor: Gem G-Bar
Blade: Ted Pella
Brush: Real Ivory Lewis & BupRows
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Old Spice
A/S: Trumper Marlborough

I picked up a real ivory handled brush off the B/S/T about a year ago and thought I'd bring it out for the Monday "Mourning" shave. It is a bit smaller (18mm knot) than I prefer but it whipped up a great lather from the tallow Old Spice soap. The Gem G-Bar efficiently removed the stubble and the splash of Trumper Marlborough was a great way to start the day.

Monday morning:

Synthetic 23m knot from TGN in my father's Surrey handle
Arko stick
Schick twin blade disposable razor w. built-in sliding protective cap
Thayers Lemon
Nivea Sensitive ASB

Two passes plus touch-up, just to get through the day.

First attempt at face lathering. The brush was chosen for potential in a travel kit, along with the stick. Making lather for the first pass was more work than bowl lathering, perhaps because of hard water and water retention qualitites of the brush. On subsequent passes, adding a drip of water on the brush eventually resulted in a rich lather, much better than the thick dry-ish stuff on the first pass.

Overall a DFS considering the razor used, perhaps due to the final quality of the lather. I will be trying this technique with other brushes, pure badger and horse hair. If it is still so much work, the Arko stick will be cut up and stored in an empty Body Shop tub, and kept there for bowl lathering.
