Floris No. 89 Shaving Soap
Simpson Tulip 2
Edwin Jagger DE86
Wilkinson Sword
Castle Forbes 1445 Aftershave Balm
First use of the Floris Soap and it lathered very well, and better than the Elite. The scent was quite subdued, I'm hoping it will pick up with regular use. The 1445 scent is a bit underwhelming as I find the scent to be a pretty ordinary "green" scent. Hopefully this will improve with use, too.

Good morning. Monday:
Jaggerooney w/Dorco 301, #1
BK 4
Tryphon Olde Englishe Violete creame*
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel
Harris Pink
CF Pre-shave as Aftershave
Trumper's Violet
* This stuff is even than worse than I remember it being. Simply the worst shave I have had in months. Certain things are meant to die. The scent was great, though.

Tryphon...what was this stuff? I remember a web store of that name that sold tons of boar brushes; their house brand perhaps?Thalay Sagar wrote:Good morning. Monday:

Sorry about the Tryphon, Chris. I have a half tub of Permafrost somewhere. I bet the plastic tub will make a great soap container for travel and storage...
SR #3122 brush
QCS cream soap

The QCS is lemongrass/cedarwood. Great scent. The lather looked good initially but wasn't stable and thinned out by the second pass. This is consistent with my previous experiences with it, and I much prefer the hard soap pucks. This one will be up for sale soon.

Yeah, that's the place. The owner- Giovanni- had a well-intentioned plan of replicating the performance and fragrances of pre-Great Reformualtion English creams. A tempest in the teapot erupted over these (mainly at his proprietary forum) when he couldn't accept criticism of the end product. Well, onto QCS Provence.LouisIII wrote:Tryphon...what was this stuff? I remember a web store of that name that sold tons of boar brushes; their house brand perhaps?Thalay Sagar wrote:Good morning. Razor: Rotbart
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Lewis & Buprows Real Ivory
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Colgate Cup Soap
A/S: Vintage Yardley
The Lewis & Buprows brush is made from pre-ban ivory and is about the size of a Wee Scot. Unfortunately I have misplaced my calipers but I would estimate the knot diameter at around 15mm. Despite its small size, it had no problem ginning up a fine creamy lather from the Colgate cup soap. The Rotbart and the Super Iridium teamed up to deliver a fine shave followed by a splash of vintage Yardley aftershave. Very nice indeed.

Monday AM:
Rooney 3/1 SS
Top Ten for Men "calming effect" cream
Slim set to 9
Gillette 7O'Clock Black (5)
Bay Rum
A very easy and comfortable BBS. It's great to return to an ultra sharp blade in an aggressive razor.
BTW, 5 shaves on this blade and it's still going strong with no issues. This could be another excellent blade that will yield 7 great shaves. They are few and far between and a necessity for it to be on my list of acceptable DE blades that I spend $ on. The others being Med Preps and 7O'Clock Yellows.

Monday, Monday
Becker scuttle
Homemade Frankincense & Myrrh preshave oil
Rooney 1/2 Faux Horn Finest brush
RazoRock Italian Master Barber LE cream soap
Wilkinson Sticky razor
Personna 74 blade (3)
Yardley Black Label aftershave
A great shave today with these vintage and discontinued items.
Add: SWMBO really likes the YBL scent a lot ("clean, soapy"), almost as much as the modern Armani and Aramis ones I use sometimes.
