SOTD: December 26 thru January 01, 2012
Sat, Dec 31
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap/Creme: Wilkinsons sword stick (face lathered)
Razor:1912
Blade: Gem
Pre: hot towel
Post: Alum block then Witch hazel
Hair Groom: none
Result: BBS, but very harsh. I just don't get as good a lather face lathering as I do bowl lathering, and the Wilkinson stick being new to me didn't help. I think I'll stick to a CCS type shave with my sticks for a while and stick to my best soaps bowl lathered for BBS days.

I turned on the TV and the Vienna New Year Concert was on. I turned the sound loud enough to reach my bathroom.

Happy New Year!
Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: Ikon OSS
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: H.L. Thäter Stout 2
Cream or Soap: D.R. Harris Lavender Soap
A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel, Alt Innsbruck Splash
A great shave to begin the new year! The Thäter/Harris combo created a fine lather, the Ikon/Astra combo effortlessly wiped the stubble from my face, and the Alt Innsbruck provided a most refreshing and fragrant finish. It was a team effort ending with a score of us: BBS; them: 0.

Happy and prosperous new year, gents!
Sunday AM:
Hot towel face prep
P.160
Semogue 1438 boar
EverReady 1904 lather catcher
GEM SS ptfe (1)
Welllll, the shave was definitely close. 2 passes and I can't really call the touchups touchups. A very close BBS.
When I got the razor the teeth needed adjustment, so I chose the most teeth that had the same or most similar adjustment. After doing that I looked at it and thought to myself that it looked very aggressive. Yup, I wasn't wrong, very aggressive. It was like gluing a blade to a popsicle stick and shaving with it. I don't think I'll be too scarred up from the experience. In a few months the bandages should be able to be removed.
A few weepers, nothing major. Comparing the tooth settings to the ugly brother showed how aggressively they were set. I did readjust the teeth to a less aggressive posture. The light weight of the razor combined with the aggression of the razor combined to produce chattering of the rig. That resulted in the weepers as it chattered over the creases in my face. Tomorrows shave with it should be much better.

Sunday - Happy New Year
Moss scuttle
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Somerset Simpson Harvard 2 Best brush
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet shaving soap
Feather AS razor
Iridium Super blade (2)
Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet aftershave
A great shave to start the year. I bought the "end of line" soap at a big discount on eBay, but it smells right, just like the EdT, and lathers great. And the Hammam is a wonderful, rich way to finish.
