Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE87
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Vie-Long Gonzalo Boar/Horse (04102)
Soap or Cream: Taylor Sandalwood Soap
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Toner

An excellent, smooth shave this morning, full of sandalwoody goodness. I can always depend upon the Vie-Long brush to make a very nice lather, and today's lather was great.

Both the DE87, used today, and my Futur have smooth handles that can be a little slippery when soap gets on my hand. Tip: lightly rub a little alum on your fingers and thumb. I learned this from one of the shaving forums, maybe this one. It works like a charm, doesn't leave your fingers feeling sticky, but gives you a sure grip on the razor. I think alum is alum when it comes to anti-slipperiness properties, but I have the little RazoRock alum in the compact plastic container which is very handy to use and store.

Wednesday

Moss scuttle
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Custom ivory PJ2 D01 brush
Penhaligon's Castile shaving cream
Feather AS razor
Schick Plus Platinum blade (3)
Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet aftershave

A good shave. The new ivory brush was great. The Castile soap lathered well but had little scent, and what little it had wasn't really very good. I think it'll be relegated to occasional nostalgia days only, when vintage products are used. But the Hammam finished things off very well indeed.

Wednesday, January 25th

Razor: Cobra Classic (loaner)
Blade: Feather Professional
Brush: Shavemac D01 Horn
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Cream: Tabula Rasa Tangerine & Vetiver
A/S: Taylor Bay Rum

I used the Cobra Classic again and received a great shave yet again. While the Cobra has an undeserved reputation of being super aggressive, I find that it is comfortable enough for daily use. Color me as very impressed.

Wednesday:

Turkish horse hair brush Nr. 6
Arko stick whipped up in a bowl
Schick Krona razor
7 o'clock yellow, 1st shave
Body Shop Razor Relief, <2009 formula

First time I can remember getting a first shave with a 7 o'clock yellow without even a weeper. Well, maybe one or two weepers that disappeared after a cold water rinse. The Krona razor had been put aside for some time, but is now the best bet for using up the rest of my 7 o'clock yellows and other PPI blades. Not, however, without scraping off the wax spots with a used blade first, which is still a Royal P-I-T-A.
