After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Marshall Fields badger (rebranded Simpsons)
1958 Executive/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
IK SS used as a stick
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Floris 'Santal' EdT

I'd planned on using a loaned to me #15 this morning, but a package received late yesterday made me change to my go to razor instead. Yeah, I won a small lot of old DE and SE blades, and in the mix was a 10 pack of what looks to be the real deal. Used it today with very good results. At least as good as the Super Sword, which I really like, and maybe even better although I can't say that at the moment. I'll need a few more shaves in various razors to see what's up for sure.

Wheeeew.......one less damn monkey on my back,

Martin

Should have posted this yesterday.

Prep: hot shower/hair conditioner on the beard
Soap: Proraso
Brush: Williams (el cheapo purchased at CVS)
Razor: Lord
Blade: Gillette 7 o'Clock Super Stainless DE (Russian)

Just replaced the Personna HU with the Gillette ... fantastic shave, really enjoyed the Gillette blade.

Gentlemen,
It's a hearty Sunday here in the province with the dazzling sunshine tempering the 16-degree temperature. Not that it makes a difference to my three-year-old grandson. He is busy is tearing up the house.

Razor: Majestic Robert Williams 7/8 Spanish point, decorated spine, bone scales
DE: Edwin Jagger 89 modified with iKon Bulldog stainless steel handle
(The banged up hands can't handle the straight more than one pass)
DE blades: Gillette yellows
Brush: Vulfix 2234 super badger — a sweet little brush, especially with creams
Cream: Plisson
Pre-shave: Castle Forbes
Scuttle: Moss
Lather bowl: Modified Ayars
Alum
Witch hazel: Thayers Super Medicated with Aloe Vera
Balm: Institute Karite
Aftershave: Pinaud classic Clubman
Music: My grandson hooting and hollering
Finisher: Mexican Kulaktic coffee and a demonstration of the kid's atomic energy

Sunday

Moss scuttle
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Somerset Simpson Keyhole 1 Best brush
Floris No. 89 shaving soap
Wilkinson Sticky razor
Gillette Platinum Plus blade (1)
Floris No. 89 aftershave balm

A very good shave on a gray morning, although the blade tugged a little as most new blades do, and nicked me slightly.

Bitten by the Cobra

Post by BullGoose »

Sunday, February 12th

Razor: Cobra Classic
Blade: Feather Professional
Brush: Vie-Long Prototype (Horse)
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Trumper Coconut
A/S: D.R. Harris Marlborough

Despite an aggressive reputation I had never had a problem with the Cobra Classic...until today. It would have been a great shave if not for a momentary lapse in concentration. The Feather Professional blade is extremely sharp and I did not even feel it as I sliced my chin. My sink immediately turned red. Thank goodness for styptic matches!

Good Afternoon!

Sunday morning shave:

Hot towel face prep
Vitos SIS (I'm trying to use it up, it refuses to comply)
Handcrafted badger brush from a friend in Alabama
GEM 1912
GEM SS ptfe (11)
bay rum

I had to try a more aggressive razor with the old blade. It was fine.

Gordon, I notice that you have been using a "Gillette original SS" razor lately, in place of your 58. By this, do you mean you're using a "40s-Style SS"?

Sunday Night:

Edwin Jagger DE87 razor
Treet Platinum Super Stainless blade

Semogue 740 pure badger brush
Art of Shaving Lemon soap

Lather made in a bowl, as always.

Dickinson's Witch Hazel, blended with a bit of lather and massaged into the skin.

Monday, February 13th

Razor: Weck Open Comb*
Blade: English Wilkinson*
Brush: Semogue LE Boar*
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Woods of Windsor*
A/S: Houbigant Fougere Royale*

An excellent shave from mostly discontinued items. The Houbigant Fougere Royale was recently obtained in a trade with John (churchilllafemme) and is a very pleasant addition to my rotation.
