Sunday: An "Inspiration Shave"!

Omega Wooden Handle
Dovo Bismarck 5/8
Karo Fresh SC
Lubriderm unscented moisturizer
Brut AS
Brut Cologne

Thanks to my dear friend Dmitry who inspired me so much, I was able to gather up the courage to use my Dovo Bismarck after not using it for more than a year, and I managed to get a very, very nice and enjoyable almost BBS shave with it. I did 2 WTG passes on both cheeks and a very light ATG pass along my neck. I guess I haven't lost my touch after all! I wish I had used a better cream, because although the Karo Fresh stuff lathers very well and richly, it really is junk. It has a soapy, but cheap scent to it, and although menthol is listed as an ingredient, you cannot really feel any. To be honest, I grabbed the first tube in front of me, so it happened to be this one. I'm still so happy that I was able to enjoy a nice, relaxing Sunday shave!

Sunday morning:

Vitos SIS
Handcrafted badger brush w/cocobolo handle
Muhle 2011 R41
Vintage Gillette "The Spoiler" (5)
bay rum

5th shave on the blade, 2nd really good shave from the blade, but that's typical for the R41. It hasn't failed to deliver a great shave yet.

Edit: We need a head hitting something emoticon, maybe a wall. I didn't proofread, knew what I wanted to say, but it wasn't said. It works now. (changed "it" to "the blade") A sort of a "small step for man , giant leap for mankind" moment, except I could edit mine.

Sunday

This was a departure from the norm, to say the least!

Shaving Cream: Stephan Stay Smooth Conditioning Shave Cream (World's Smoothest Shave)
Razor: SSA 6/8 quarter hollow ground
Balm: 444 ASB
After Shave: Penhaligon's English Fern AS

The Stephen's SC has the most wonderful coconut fragrance, and is a beautiful blue color. Just rub it in and shave. It seems to be quite acceptable in performance. Comes in a huge 16 ouce tub, made in USA (Florida, I believe). This was a straight razor shave, and I reapplied the cream between passes (3), and after the shave I rubbed a light coat all over my face and waited a few seconds. It left my face feeling great and smelling great. No tightness or greasy look or feel. I've posted about Stephen's before. I had drifted away from it, because it's so pleasurable to experience a nice lather produced by a nice brush.

River, Wimps? Well, if we had 100% humidity we'd be wimps also. When it gets humid for us, along with cold, we don't like it much either. Frankly, it doesn't take much humidity to make the difference either.

I've written it before (not here) that I'd rather take -20 up here (Maine) (bone dry at that temp- the air has no choice) than 32 degrees down south. The difference is the humidity.
