Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: EJ Best
Soap or Cream: Palmolive Italian Menthol Cream
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, 4711 Splash

A mighty fine shave--smooth and refreshing. The Palmolive Italian Menthol behaves in a rather similar manner to Proraso, but with a different scent. I like either one, but those who do not like the scent of Proraso should give the Palmolive a try. The 4711 splash provided an excellent finish to this very comfortable shave.

Saturday morning:

Hot towel face prep
TOBS Almond cream (Thanks Gary!)
Semogue 610 boar
1906 EverReady Lather Catcher
GEM SS ptfe (6)
bay rum

Yet another great shave! I hope I never get tired of writing that.

Gary was kind enough to send a sample of TOBS Almond for me to compare to Vitos soft Italian soap and P.160. Vitos I've been using every day for the past 1 1/2 months trying to use it up, today was the TOBS almonds turn.

TOBS was very creamy in the tub as you would expect. It lathered great, but the scent while very almondy in the tub, gained an almost chemical scent as it got diluted down in the lather. I couldn't place the scent, neither could my wife. Maybe it was my nose this morning. I'll have other lathers with it, so I'll revisit this issue. I have no complaints with the lather at all. When soaps get this good I have a difficult time saying one is better than another. I have no major complaints with the Vitos or the TOBS. The TOBS is definitely a top notch performer. Maybe there is one thing I can also add about the TOBS... as most creams are, at least for me, it lathered in a heartbeat, but I get that with all creams vs soaps. For me slow lathering isn't an issue becasue I want my face lathering to take a few minutes, but for others it might be meaningful.

Edit: I forgot the pic.

Saturday, March 3

Razor: iKon OSS
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best
Soap/Cream: La Toja Classic Cream
A/S: Floid Blue

A BBS shave today. This was my first time using La Toja and Floid Blue. The cream performed well but I need some additional shaves with the cream to see if it makes it to the favored list. The Floid Blue is a definite favorite with a scent that reminds me of one of the old barbershops I went to with my grandfather and father. The was my first use with the OSS as an owner. My first opportunity to use the OSS came when Phil lent it out to travel and be put to the test as the traveling razor. A great razor with a dual personality!

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: iKon OSS
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Best
Soap or Cream: Portman Square Tropical Coconut Cream
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Meehan Bay Rhum

Very nice shave. Everything came together like it's supposed to--fragrant lather, smooth and close cutting razor/blade combo, and a warming, but refreshing, finish adding it's own compatible tropical note on this chilly morning.
