Gentlemen, here is today shave menu:

Razor: Kropp 6/8 round point
Brush: Simpson Chubby
Cream: Macca Root
Pre-shave: Edwin Jagger
Scuttle: Moss
Face lather
Alum
Witch hazel
Balm: Coral Skin Food by Trumper
Aftershave: Musgo Real Classic

I grabbed the Simpson Chubby by mistake, knowing it's a superior brush for soap and not for cream. At least I prefer it with soap. Ah well, a senior moment, what can I say?

Moss Anniversary Slate scuttle
Rooney 3/1 (ridged) Finest brush
Truefitt & Hill 1805 shaving cream
Feather AS razor
Personna 74 blade (1)
Truefitt & Hill 1805 aftershave balm

A great shave, as close as I've ever had. The Rooney performed beautifully. A few small nicks, not unusual for me with a new blade.

The C&E BBB has been my only active brush for days now (sorry, BK4). Today was Ogallala Bay Rum soap, the 40s SuperSpeed, and an IP on day 5. I've gone from a 2.5+ pass shave to a 1.1, overlapping style shave with excellent results.

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: EJ DE87
Blade: Gillette Super Thin
Brush: Vie-Long Gonzalo Horse/Boar
Soap or Cream: Palmolive Stick
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Alt Innsbruck Splash

I was in a hurry when I shaved this morning, and abbreviated the shave to 2 passes + touchup, instead of the usual 3 + touchup. Not quite BBS, but very good, irritation-free, and still feels smooth in most areas of my face 5 hours later. I really like the Gillette Super Thin blades, which have worked very well in all the razors I’ve tried them in. A quick splash of Alt Innsbruck, and I was out the door to meet a guy I used to work with for breakfast.

Three-pass shave w/2 razors and new SuperMax (Bulgarian manufactured)

Passes 1 (WTG) & 2 (XTG):
The ax - Treet Delrin
The shiv - AsSPlat, 4th use

Pass #3 (ATG) - Merkur 38C and Israeli Blue (7th use)

The brush - A monster clearance boar brush* :D
The lather - SuperMax 3
Hot and cold rinse
Pinaud Citrus Musk*

Beautiful! I like the cream. The boar whipped it quickly to where it looked good enough to eat! A DFS!

Thursday

Schick Krona & Gillette 'Swede'
King of Shaves 'Alpha Gel' Cooling Menthol
Holland & Barrett 99.9% Aloe Vera Gel

A disappointing shave for many reasons. My second shave since returning to the DE from the Sensor, the first shave being four days ago. I almost shaved yesterday but didn't find the time. To put this into perspective I usually go an entire week, often more, between shaves. For me, to shave again after four days is unheard of, yet here I am. I don't know why I find it so much harder to get good results when shaving a couple of days growth instead of a couple of weeks, possible my beard gets softer the longer it gets which I suspect points to a lack of prep on my part. Fortunately, half a dozen nicks all but disappeared after a final cold water rinse.

The gel is adequate with a cart but with a DE it's distinctly sub par. The Aloe Vera gel is surprisingly effective as an ASB but it is without scent. The Schick Krona is a joy to use but I'm beginning to suspect that I might get better results with a slightly less sharp and more forgiving blade than the 'Swede'. This is a bit of an anti climax after my last DE shave (which was my first DE shave in about four years) but I'll stick at it. I have a brush on its way and when funds permit I'll get a decent cream. I'll give some other blades a try too, I only have 3 Swedes left anyway so that was inevitable. And I suppose my face is just going to have to adapt and get used to being shaved every 3 or 4 days instead of being sheared every summer like a sheep. I can't carry off that arty scruff bag look anymore, there's too much white in my beard.

By the way, I didn't shave with Soylent Green. There's no such product. Yet.
