Kent BK4
Cella soap (generously face-lathered)
'47 Aristocrat
Gillette Silver Blue (1)

First time with the SB so here are my initial impressions. Sharp: Yes, whiskers were no match for this blade. Smooth: Yes, easy glide. Forgiving: Tough call. Definitely requires good technique. Overall result: Two passes and I'm smooth with no irritation. The Pinaud Bay Rum did not burn on application.

Sunday AM 03-03-2013

Freshly ground and brewed Kona coffee
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Becker scuttle
Somerset Simpson Butterscotch Duke 2 Best (22/46)
Tabula Rasa Olibanum shaving cream soap
Rotbart
Super Iridium (4)
Captain's Choice Lime splash aftershave (sample)

This was my first use of the CC lime aftershave sample that was sent to me for testing. It was quite soothing, without the usual lime bite. It has a somewhat dark and complex, almost smoky scent, without the brightness of the comparable T&H or Royall aftershaves. Perhaps this is because the others use the yellow West Indian limes; I don't know. Anyway, while I'll wait to judge it until I've used it more, my initial impression is positive.

The Rotbart is interesting. It is very light in weight because of the plastic handle and the head which appears to be aluminum, so I couldn't "let the razor do the work." But it holds the blade at a perfect angle, so it was smooth and quite easy to use. I like it.
