-- Friday--

Prep: hot water wash with hand soap
Razor: Side-by-side shave with 2011 and 2013 Muhle R41
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1)
Brush: Home made wooden brush with TGN two band finest 24mm/49mm
Soap: Palmolive stick mushed into a bowl
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5 in Hamada glaze
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant stick and Thayers Witch Hazel with Aloe

Image

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Wow! I am not sure I'll be doing this any time soon, but I have a chance to test out the two late model Muhle R41 razors. The 2011 Muhle R41 and the more tempered 2013 Muhle R41. I loaded a fresh Feather into each and went to town. Needless to say I got a VERY close shave. Comfort was not up there, but it wasn't terrible. Both razors seem to shave about the same. Very aggressive, but manageable and Feather blade actually improves the shave over a less sharp blade, paradoxically. 2013 R41 definitely feels milder and quieter, but I believe it shaves just as aggressively. I think the improvement in the 2013 model is a good one, if subtle.

Friday

Merkur Progress
Personna Med Prep (7th shave)
Col. Conk Badger
Palmolive in Mug
Pre: Acure Conditioner
Post: Kroger Arctic Blue AS

I set the Progress on 4 this time. It bit me on the chin in one place (carelessness on my part)...
However, I still got a nice close shave, nothing big to complain about. The Palmolive lathers wonderfully, it is rich, great in its own right.... an inexpensive quality soap.

Next shave I will use a different razor, but same blade...

The brush: Vie-Long small horsehair
The lather: Mama Bear Hinoki scent soap
The ax: Cadet TTO-13
The blade: Persona Lab
The result: One of the best shaves I've ever had. All the shaving gods sat on my shoulders as I got plenty of audio feedback -I don't often have that, I've found- and the smooth feel of whiskers scythed away in a good lather. In two full passes plus touchups I got a true BBS result.
I love my US-made Personna blades, all of 'em! =D> They work above their pay-grade for me.
Good day to all!
