It was back to the “Sticks” today with the Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood stick. It lathers up OK, but is not in the same class as the Speick, Palmolive, La Toja, or yes…Arko sticks. I also tried my first Israeli Personna SP (Crystal) blade. The shave was great. The Israeli Personna’s did a nice, smooth job. I finished with Krampert’s Bay Rum. Come on weekend……..

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Great shave. I really like the Big Fellow NI with a shim. Still not super aggressive, but enough for me. RR Classic is an excellent inexpensive croap. Not sure why there is not more love for it on the forums. It is slick and protective and works every time. The brush I made for myself a while ago was supposed to be a travel brush, but I since bought Simpson Case for that and I also have a Wee Scot, both of which I love, but at home I have been using mostly brushes made or restored by me. This little guy I set very strangely at a higher loft than conventional wisdom would suggest. I was going by feel on that one and it came out amazingly well. It's small, but like the Case and Wee Scot it is surprising in its ability to hold a lot of lather and perform amazingly well in terms of flow through and backbone. Very happy with it.
