Good Thursday Morning
grey, dull day on Cape Cod; most of the summer visitors have left and the full-timers are
slowly reclaiming the shops, restaurants, and roads
Pre: QED French Clay Soap
Razor: Gillette, model unknown, adjustable tto, set to 6 (of 9); Personna HU blade (3,4?)
Soap: MWF
Brush: Somerset Simpson PL8
Shower: MWF and Basis soap
Mystic Waters shampoo Bar; white vinegar rinse
Post: Clubman A/S
Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Post Shave Healer
Clubman BATH (true white) Talc , liberally applied to the face and body, up and down
RazoRock aloe deo spray
Mystic Waters Hair Oil
Several changes in my shave routine: gave the Cobra Classic a rest and grabbed the Gillette. After several months of using
the Cobra nearly every single day, the Gillette required a bit of adjustment from me. Fine shave, needing 2 1/2 passes,
but even with a bit of buffing, the upper lip was still not up to snuff. This is one piece of geography where the Cobra really
excels for me. Gosh the MWF provides some great lather, even tho too much water was probably used at the start.
Shaved a face fresh from last night's clay mask experiment; more on that elsewhere?? Suffice to say, not overwhelmed
by the deep pore cleansing efficacy of Baxter's of California's Clay Mask.

John, what's your take on these two products? I've wanted to order the QED soap, but shipping cost is excessive.

Ron,
I really like the QED soap; it is excellent for my oily/combo skin. Even at my age, minor skin breakouts are possible if I'm
not careful. I use the QED in combination with Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Liquid Face Wash (ex strength)and the Clinique
"Scruffing Lotion," both available online from Nordstrom's( quick and free US shipping).
I saved up to order from Charles at QED; he has excellent prices on several shave items I use so the shipping costs are
amortized accordingly. Prices on Speick and DR Harris products seem to be excellent and of course Charles' proprietary items.
I also live close to Charles' shipping point and the USPS Priority costs on my last $60 order was only about $8.
Time will tell on the RazoRock deo spray; it's alcohol-free and contains aloe (duh) and POTASSIUM alum. I guess I could use
the RazoRock alum stick and get similar results. My underarms have suddenly become very sensitive and RazoRock at least
does not aggravate the condition; it seems to control odor well, especially over this summer's warm and humid weather.
But I have recently begun to notice that in addition to skin sensitivity, deodorants (and antiperspirants) tend to lose efficacy
over time, so caution in endorsing Razorock seems wise. No scent to speak of so nothing to clash with your aftershave/cologne
One product I cannot recommend is the Dreadnought "Silver Technology" deodorant; it contains aluminum chlorohydrate, a
no-no for many (not me), so it really is an antiperspirant, tho it doesn't claim to be. Set my pits on fire; now resides in the
box of "what was I thinking" products and gizmos.
On re-reading this post not sure it's of any help to you but I hope it provides something of value.

Very helpful, John. Thanks. I'm a Left Coaster, so shipping costs jump. The soap sounds exactly like what I'm looking for, but I still have to find another product to meet QED's $15 minimum order, and nothing quite appeals to me at the moment except the SR3824, which is still out of stock.
