A wonderfully scented oil slick...

• Razor: EverReady Streamline
• Blade: GEM PTFE (2)
• Brush: RV Alibaba Black Fibre
• Soap: Stirling -- Bergamot Lavender
• AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum

Image

While my test lathers last night were promising and the scent is very enjoyable, I just did not enjoy the lather from this soap at all. I believe that it's the castor oil especially since it is high on the ingredient list; 2nd. I have oily skin as it is so anything with a high oil content doesn't work well for me like preshave oils and aftershave balms.

So while the lather was dense and extremely well hydrated (I kept adding water trying to make it better) it was very tacky. It kept sticking to the razor, blade, and me. I almost never have blood when using the Streamline but today was blood-y. Even an hour after my shave my skin still has a tacky feeling to it. I feel like I'm going to stick to anything my face touches. I feel sorry for my kids and wife today.

At least I learned free of charge (Thanks Rudy) that I need to be careful with soaps that have a high amount of castor oil in them. So if you have dry skin & both preshave oils and aftershave balms serve you well, then this may be a great soap for you.

Good Morning , Gentlemen
PRE: Mystic Water Tea Tee /Oatmeal Soap
SOAP: Haslinger Coconut
BRUSH: QED Saville Row Silvertip, 22 mm
RAZOR: GEM G Bar, with GEM PTFE SS blade (4)
POST: Alum deo stick as an astringent
Clubman styptic pencil
Pinaud Eau de Portugal
Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Post Shave Healer
What a difference a day makes. After complaining about the "too short" G Bar handle,
suddenly it is now long enough. With the exception of switching the Haslinger soap choice
to Coconut, the tools were identical but the shave more satisfying. 2 1/2 passes gave me
a really comfortable DFS shave, Managed to reopen a weeper from my last go round but no
other damage was inflicted today and the Eau de Portugal/Post shave Healer left the skin
smooth and comfortable. And those Haslinger soaps really do whip up a great lather!

Enjoying wet shaving, again.
