SUNDAY A.M.
PRE: QED French Red Clay facial soap
SHAVE SOAP: Valobra Cologne Hard Shave Soap
BRUSH: Simpson PL8
RAZOR: Gem 1914(?) with Gem PTFE SS (1)
POST: Crystal deo as post shave astringent
Clubman A/S
Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Post Shave Healer
Interesting shave. Used a Gem razor which, on a recent extended trip, virtually massacred my face and even more my neck, even tho I changed
blades frequently. Today it seemed to be tamed a bit, needing only 2+ passes to give me a really close shave, albeit it with a few weepers and
a tad more irritation than usual. I've checked the razor for defects, blade fit, etc., but could find nothing to account for its "roughness." Not sure
exactly which Gem model it is. More to follow?....
Enjoying wet shaving, again.

Prep: hot water wash with Stirling bath soap
Razor: Merkur Progress set to 3.5
Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (1)
Brush: Barbear Classico Cerda LE #67
Soap: Mike's Natural Lemongrass and Eucalyptus
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5 in Hamada glaze
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant alum stick and Simpson Aftershave Balm

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. First shave with BC LE Cerda (boar). I shampooed it upon arrival and gave it my one-time-boar break in treatment, which resulted in most bristle ends being split before shave one. The brush felt great, especially for the maiden voyage. Didn't hold as much lather as the Mistura, but enough for 3+ passes and final face wash. The face feel of this brush is very nice. Too early to tell what it will develop into after some use. Mike's Lemongrass and Eucalyptus soap is excellent and performed as well as Barbershop I used before. Mike's is quickly becoming one of my favorite soaps.

Prep: hot water wash with Stirling bath soap
Razor: Frankenrazor made of Hallmark top plate, Fatip base plate and Ikon bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock blue (3)
Brush: Simpson TSN P8 #59
Soap: Panna Crema Namaste
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5 in Hamada glaze
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant alum stick and Simpson aftershave balm

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Great shave as usual. This only a third shave with the TSN P8. What a wonderful brush! However, it is a bit too soft and mushy for me. I've been using the SOC SE mixed and all my other badgers are two band, so I am really preferring the sturdier scrubier feel, I guess. Still, TSN P8 is flawless in its build and does work very, very well as a lather machine.

-- Thursday--

Prep: hot water wash with Stirling bath soap
Razor: Frankenrazor made of Hallmark top plate, Fatip base plate and Ikon bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock blue (4)
Brush: Home made handle with TGN two band knot
Soap: Mike's Natural Lemongrass and Eucalyptus
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5 in Hamada glaze
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant alum stick and Thayers alcohol free witch hazel

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Great shave as usual. Went back to one of my favorite home-made brushes today. Been ignoring my home-made and restored brushes for the past month or so because of all the LE and SE brushes in my life. Wow! A simple TGN Finest set at 24mm/46mm is as good as any of them! Very enjoyable shave. Close, comfy and no blood loss at all.
