-- Thursday--

Prep: hot water wash with bath soap
Razor: 1922 Gillette Big Fellow with New Improved head
Blade: Feather (2)
Brush: Ever-Ready 200T restored with TGN two band finest
Soap: Mike's Naturals Vetiver
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5 in Hamada glaze (used as brush scuttle)
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant alum stick and Thayers's witch hazel

Image

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Excellent shave. Extrememly close, though I did have a few weepers I had to use styptic pencil on. I am really rediscovering and loving the New Improved head. The Big Fellow in general is an excellent razor having perfect balance, weight and handle length and knurling. The NI head is very good because it is generally mild, but with slight pressure can be made aggressive. The blade gap is huge, but exposure is almost zero. This is a unique (to my knowledge) DE design. I love that I can go easy on most of my face and then add a little bite to the problem areas without any adjustments or anything other than pressure technique.

My newly restored ER brush is amazing. I am so happy with it! It is perfectly set to be soft and comfy, yet destroys Mike's soap with ease. Vetiver is not my cup of tea for scent, but Mike's soap will always have a spot in my den. Currently Barbershop, Hungarian Lavender and Rose and Cedarwood are my favorites.

THURSDAY A.M.
PRE: Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Liquid Cleanser, ex. strength
SHAVE SOAP: Haslinger Marigold
SHAVE BRUSH: Somerset Simpson Duke 2, best
RAZOR/BLADE: Gem 1914 with Gem SE PTFE SS (4)
POST SHAVE: Crystal alum deo stick as after shave astringent ... Clubman Eau de Portugal Tonic as aftershave .... Simpson After Shave Balm
DFS+ shave in a quick 2 1/2 pass effort. No fuss, no bother, just close and comfortable without a hint of irritation.
A welcome touch of Spring on its debut day with 60* temperatures forecast and a bright sunny sky awaiting me.
Enjoying wet shaving, again.
