-- Friday, July 11--

Prep: hot water wash with bath soap
Razor: 1922 Gillette Big Fellow New Improved
Blade: Ladas (3)
Brush: One of my latest creations, Green and Lavender Pearl handle with TGN two band finest - 31mm knot!
Soap: Mike's Lemongrass and Sage
Scuttle: None
Post: Thai Crystal deodorant alum stick and Thayers's witch hazel

Result: BBS in 3+ passes. Wonderful shave. The new brush is amazing. 31m/52mm. I am becoming a fan of large brushes like this one. Not only is it beautiful, but the bulb shape of the knot is very versatile. I can pinpoint with it and also lather half my face at once. This knot feels luxurious and soft tipped with excellent backbone. Very good brush feel without any scritch whatsoever. Mike's soaps are always amazing. This was a very enjoyable shave at home after a few days of traveling.

Saturday, July 12, 2014

Pre-shave: Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg Shave Oil
Razor: Techarooney (Gillette Tech head/Rooney Chatsworth-type faux horn handle)
Blade: Gillette Super Thin
Brush: Simfix Grosvenor LE Two-Band
Soap: Proraso Green Tub (old formula)
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel/Proraso Splash (old formula)

I never liked the short, ball-end handle on the Tech—the Rooney handle has made a huge difference in the “feel” of the razor, turning it into a very nice shaving instrument for me. The build quality is not up to the standards of most of the modern razors but, with a decent blade, it mows down the stubble very nicely. I should use it more often.
