SOTD: September 29 - October 5

Post by Johnny »

SOTD: Monday - September 29, 2014.

We will call this flu shave #2

When we have a bad cold or the flu we use products with menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus in them, like Mentholatum, Vicks Vapor Rub, etc. So, while I am fighting this darn flu I have, I will be using my products which contains these ingredients, and that's my PRORASO line of products. So the only thing that will change for me each day will be the brush and maybe the razor.

Here it is today: Proraso Pre-Shave, Proraso Green Soap, Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Synthetic Brush, Feather AC-SS with a Kai Mild Blade, and finished off with a splash Proraso Green After Shave, and some Proraso Green After Shave Balm.

Ah, I feel better already.

Mastro Livi Damasco "100 layers", 13/16 Extra Hollow, Square Point

What I love about this razor is the smell of the scales. Juniper wood with its very intense aroma really adds an extra pleasure to the Mastro Livi experience. Not to mention the smoothness of this carbon Damascus steel, personally made by Mastro Livi and made of a total of 100 layers. Smooth, very smooth, absolutely pure velvet, it is a joy to shave with. And, yes, the aroma of juniper wood is absolutely wonderful!

Monday morning:

Razor: Gillette Injector
Blade: Chinese Schick

Brush: Semogue 740 (pure badger)
Soap: Mike's Natural, Lime.

Lather made on top of the soap.
2 1/2 passes

Cold water rinse.

I'm not changing out the kit much as I develop my new abbreviated approach to lathering. I'm about due for a new blade, so maybe I'll finally break out one of the Personna 74 Injector blades that a fellow wetshaver so generously gave me so long ago.
