Kent BK4
Tabac soap
40s Super Speed
Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow (7)

This combination, and another substituting DRH Marlborough for the Tabac, are the best I've experienced. Recently switched from face-lathering to bowl-lathering and am getting improved hydration of the lather.

Mastro Livi "The Last New Grind"

Here it is another lovely shave with the last "new grind" straight razor ever made by Mastro Livi. Being the very last of a long and glorious story, I am very proud to say I have the privilege of owning the very last exemplar of this well known Mastro Livi razor, which story has been narrated in one of my videos. I must admit I absolutely love this razor's scales: natural buckeye burl with abalone, white mother of pearl, grey mother of pearl inlays and nickel silver tips. A genuine work of art!
  • Pre-Shave: Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: XPEC Shaving Cream
  • Brush: Omega Bristle Brush 49 Red
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi "The Last New Grind", 6/8 Half Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: Geo. F. Trumper Curzon Cologne

Sunday:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash
Large Horsehair Barbershop
Super Speed/Shark day 6
Mama Bear's Awakenings SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Floid Classic AS

These Egyptian-made Shark blades ain't bad at all - in fact they're pretty good even if I say so myself. I find they have good longevity, they're sharp, and they're smooth. The Awakenings soap is a damned good face-freezer - it has about the same menthol power as the ISZ soap and even though it's a bit tricky to lather, once you get the hang of it you can get great results. What I do is I soak the puck while I'm washing my face and brushing my teeth, then I spill out the water and I start with a fairly wet brush and I load it for around 25-30 seconds. This technique gives me plenty of rich lather. The Gold Bond moisturizer and the Floid Classic aftershave froze my face even more afterwards. Another terrific shave.

Plisson Synthetic
Tim's Soap - Ouzo
Edwin Jagger Barley
Lab Prep shave 5
Thayer's aftershave

Well, I like that Plisson. I may have the knot dropped into a different handle, but it is a very nice lathering tool.

Tim

Sunday morning:

Pre shave: Cornhuskers Lotion
Musgo Real Classic cream
WD synthetic brush
EJ DE 89L razor
Treet Black Beauty blade
Pinaud Classic Vanilla A/S

After washing my face with warm water, I find that a light layer of Cornhuskers, allowed to dry while I build my lather, provides a more comfortable shave than when I don't use it. I alternate between Cornhuskers, Noxzema cleansing cream or 3P pre shave cream. All of the three work about the same. I can't tell much of a difference. I do know that if I skip that step, my shave will not be as comfortable.
Best regards,

Basil
