Result: BBS in 3+ passes. This is an interesting Frankenrazor I put together. It is rather mild, but effective. I could not even think of having a more aggressive shave today with all this humidity. My skin is constantly semi-irritated. As it was the shave was great and everything performed great.

J.A. Henckels Friodur 17 1/2, 7/8 Full Hollow, Round Point

J.A. Henckels straight razors have always been among my favorite ones, in particular those of the Friodur line. My very first stainless steel straight razor was in fact a Friodur and it allowed me to appreciate the performance of stainless steel in straight razor shaving. I don't still understand why many experienced straight razor users would not suggest a stainless steel razor to a beginner. When I bought my very first Friodur - it was about sixteen years ago and it was a 70 1/2 model - I had very little experience about straight razors, I liked it from the very first moment and I had no problem but a perfect shave. Of course, this Friodur 17 1/2 is no exception and it is capable of giving an absolutely impeccable shave and, yes, I would certainly suggest it to a beginner, although I believe the 70 1/2 would be even better because of its smaller size.
