Mastro Livi Grifetto

Shaving with Mastro Livi Grifetto is always a pleasure. The stainless steel Mastro Livi uses for this blade gives a lovely and velvety feedback while delivering the smoothest and closest shave. I must say I am very proud of this razor also for the fact I suggested the Grifetto name to Mastro Livi as well as the shoulderless design. The olive wood scales add an elegant and beautiful touch to this razor, a tribute to the Umbrian view where olive trees and vineyards are among the most common things you can see in our green hills. Mastro Livi Grifetto, proudly made in Perugia, Umbria. Italy, of course. A land rich in art, history, nice food and wines, monuments and breathtaking views. Not to mention magnificent and impeccable artisan straight razors.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Valobra Mentolo
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Perugia Eco-Silvertip, Poplar, 24mm Knot
  • Bowl: Old Barber Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Grifetto, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point, Olive Wood
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: Lucky Tiger Bay Rum

Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017

Shaving with this Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017 is a pleasure. Its velvety and smooth touch makes it the excellence of shaving, not to mention it is such a beautiful masterpiece to look at. Three passes of pure joy in which I used my shaving soap and the shave brush my friend Roberto made for me. The icing on the cake was the super refreshing touch of my Thyrrenus aftershave, a super cooling sensation absolutely perfect for this hot day.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: RazorGuy Shaving Soap
  • Brush: Roberto's Brush, Wild Badger, Locust Tree Wood, 24mm Knot
  • Bowl: Bamboo Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017, 8/8 Full Hollow, French Point, Cocobolo
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Thyrrenus

Friday AM 2017-06-30

Moss Slate Anniversary scuttle
Rooney 3/1 Ebony Finest (22m/48mm)
Trumper's Eucris shaving soap
Charcoal Goods SS L1
Wilkinson Light Brigade (4)
Guerlain Vetiver aftershave

The Eucris must be pretty old, because its scent is quite faint. It easily made lather of just fair quality, not really good but adequate. The new CG razor required a different angle than my AS-D2s, but it shaved a little closer and cleaner. It has good audible feedback but doesn't glide quite as smoothly. And the new Guerlain aftershave is nicely soothing, with no bite and a light, green, woodsy fragrance.

Saturday AM 2017-07-01

Georgetown Pottery G12 scuttle (Hamada & Persimmon)
Rooney 3/2 Ebony Finest #1 (24mm/54mm)
Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna shaving soap (vintage) + Sienna shaving cream (vintage)
Weber PH/Stork Diplomat Titanium
Wilkinson Light Brigade (5)
Guerlain Habit Rouge

An excellent shave. The Sienna products are the equal of any of the best vintage soaps and creams. The Weber PH was actually smoother than I remember the DLC being, even smoother than the Charcoal Goods L1 I also recently bought. However, the top cap is slightly shorter than the base plate, exposing the blade ends slightly, making me think it may not be the correct cap. And the Habit Rouge is a warm, sweet, woody Oriental, very soothing.
