Shave of the Day: Monday Morning, 2 October 2017

Clearasil Face Wash
Proraso Pre-Shave Cream
Merkur 38C Safety Razor
Ladas Razor Blade

New York City Landmarks Souvenir Cappuccino Mug, for Building Lather
Omega, for Proaso Boar Hair Shaving Brush
Edwin Jagger Shaving Soap

Stidex Pad
Fine Fresh Vetiver Aftershave Shaving Tonic
Arko Men Aqua Aftershave Balm
Suave Lotion
Johnson's Clean & Clear Acne Treatment, for ingrown hairs

This was a mighty fine shave. I am pleased, to say, the Merkur 38C works in all directions, on my face. I thought it might be too heavy, going against the grain, but, to my pleasant surprise, it worked. The razor glided, across my face, in all directions. I shall be using this razor, from now, until I grow a beard. The blade, I used this morning, was perfect. Ladas blades are made, by the same company, which makes the Rapira family, of blades. They have the same logo, and, are a bit smoother. I am, quite, pleased, by the results, of this morning's shave. Happy Monday, and, Happy Shaving!

Shave of the Day: Monday Evening, 2 October 2017

Preraso Pre-Shave Cream
Merkur 38C Safety Razor
Voskhod Razor Blade
Artisan Made Lather Bowl
Stirling Fan-Knot Badger Hair Shaving Brush
Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeine Shaving Cream
Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeine Aftershave Balm

So, this was the most disappointing shaving cream, in a long while. Seriously, even with bottled water, and, the lather bowl, this lather was either too dry, too foamy, or, just plain weird feeling, on my face. Also, it smells bad. The strong scent of spearmint filled the bathroom, and, my sinuses. I am finished, with this stuff. It is cheap, for a reason. I only used it to confirm my thoughts, and, because #MentholMonday #MentholatedMonday Okay, so there you go. Also, I really like this razor. It will be my daily razor, from now on, for, at least, another two years. Maybe longer.

Tuesday AM 2017-10-03

Georgetown Pottery G20 Scuttle (Hamada and Purple)
Rooney 3/2 Ebony Finest #2 (24mm/62mm)
Floris Verbena shaving soap (vintage)
Weber Polished Head/Stork Diplomat Titanium
Polsilver Super Iridium (2)
Guerlain Vétiver aftershave

I've been traveling the last few days, using a cartridge razor and brushless cream. I was somewhat surprised at how close a shave I got, but I'm quite glad to be back to my regular double edge.

Shave of the Day: Tuesday Night, 3 October 2017

Proraso Pre-Shave Cream
Merkur 38C Safety Razor
Rapira Super Stainless Razor Blade
Artisan Made Shaving Bowl, for Building Lather
Omega Puro Tasso Badger Hair Shaving Brush
Omega Shaving Cream
Valeiro Sabonete Bar Soap
Wholly Kaw Dark Vetiver Aftershave Shaving Tonic

This fickle weather does a number, on my face. I was looking forward, to this shave. I skipped this morning's shave, because of slight irritation. This is okay. I only use, really, smooth razor blades, from now on, moving forwards. Anyway, I really liked this shave. The good scent, of eucalyptus, filled the bathroom. Two passes me left feeling refreshed. Tomorrow morning, I may attempt a baby-bottom smooth result. The Dark Vetiver mixed well, with the eucalyptus, from the shaving cream. An interesting combination, on a cool, crisp autumn night. Happy Tuesday, and, Happy Shaving!

Shave of the Day: Wednesday Morning, 4 October 2017

Clearasil Face Wash
Proraso Pre-Shave Cream
Merkur 38C Safety Razor
Ladas Razor Blade
New York City Landmark Souvenir Cappuccino Mug, for Building Lather
Semogue Excelsior Cerda Pura Boar Hair Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera Shaving Soap
Veleiro Sabonete Bar Soap
Shaving Tonic: Fine Accoutrements Fresh Vetiver Aftershave
Shaving Balm: Arko Men Aqua Aftershave Balm
Suave Lotion
Stridex Pad
Johnson & Johnson's Clean & Clear Acne Treatment

I have had better shaves, to be honest. I tried to soak the brush, while taking a shower, so the soap would load easier. This was a huge mistake. The lather was a watery, runny mess. Oh, well. Live & learn. Other than that, it was a good shave. Happy Wednesday, and, Happy Shaving!

Thursday AM 2017-10-05

Georgetown Pottery G12 Scuttle (Green Oribe & Purple)
Rooney 3/3 Ivory Finest #2 (26mm/65mm)
Colgate Barber shaving soap with added menthol
Charcoal Goods Brass L1/Triad Brass Aristocrat
Polsilver Super Iridium (4)
Cigar Aficionado aftershave/Beer Soap Co. Ireland Tweed solid cologne

I melted about 1/8 tsp of menthol crystals in 1-1/2 tsp hot water and then pipetted that into the soap lather as I built it in my scuttle bowl. The lather was quite cold on my skin, and I liked it. I certainly would not want to use it every day, but once every couple weeks or so will be fine.
