I have been getting better shaves progressively, I have found that I need to shave everyday to get this because the longer hair makes it really tough to get a good shave. Still getting some burn here and there, almose bbs on my neck, def on my cheeks, but im dare not try to go ATG on my chin and moustache, thats asking for trouble, tried it once and upper lip burned for the whole day. I think my problem before was that the catridge razor I was using was sharpening the hair and then it was burrowing back into my skin, with the single blade, i am having much better results.
For newbies, I have found that, although it is messier, lathering up on my face gives me superior lather and softens my beard much better because the cream is on my face the whole time I am building lather. I think this will be my technique for awhile. Thanks Leisureguy for the suggestion.
I also found that Dorco blades work really well for me. Have gotten 3 shaves out of this last one and they have actually gotten better with each shave. Might try to squeeze one more out. I didn't like the israeli personnas too much, but i need to give them another try since ive modified other things now. Going to try derbys soon and then Gillettes.
Thanks guys,
Josh
Better Shaves
Josh,
Glad to hear things are going well. I recently started lathering on my face and feel that it is working very well. I think you'll like the Derby and Gillette blades. I like both (depending on the razor).

Josh---I, too, am glad to hear your shaves are going well. It just takes time and practice and although, I do not lather directly on my face, it's good to hear you have found a technique which works for you. Keep going and keep everyone posted.
