I just picked up an Omega 48 brush. It has been losing some bristles daily, since day one. Usually no more tha three a day, but up to about 20 on the first day of two. I have used it less than three weeks. Is this normal?
Thanks...

It appears that the individual bristles are merely pulling out. My guess is that the glueing was less than perfect.Zach wrote:Is it in the same spot?
Are the bristles breaking or coming out of the knot? Are they as long as the longest bristles or breaking part of the way down?
The knot is held with so much epoxy that likely it's breaking at the base, because of some damage/defect. Not normal.
Thanks for the replies...I really appreciate it.

Maybe a defect, but if you were to dissect that knot, you'd be amazed at how epoxied that knot is, it's in a cup and it's in a solid mass like battleship cement or something. I have heard theories about air bubbles and this and that, but for me, the only thing that I've seen as a failing is a cracked knot, and then all the bristles along the 'fault line' are prone to easy removal, which is why I asked if it was all in the same place.
To counter the cracked knot, unlike some other brushes that set the knot in a hole in the handle, the Omega knot, once again, is set is a cup, and the whole cup is set in the handle; there's not as much 'wiggle room' for the knot to dry up and crack. Since boar does absorb water, it absorbs it right into the knot; and since boar dries, so can the knot, making them more susceptible to cracking than badger. If you've had it for 6 weeks, you might try to swap it, but past 30 days seems like a lot for a vendor to take it back. Good luck.
