i think many shavers dont realize that they are stretching they skin while shaving...

just a raise of your head or a turn of your head stretches the skin..
kinda just comes natural during the shave process

That's a very good description of how I do it. I don't use my off-hand to reach around and stretch the skin adjacent to the razor, I just use the facial muscles and the positioning of my head to achieve the desired results.

Gary, There you go! That's why I, in my original post, I mentioned using the free hand, or "...making facial contortions, or both...". But rarely did any guy back then shave doing neither, like they do in TV commercials today. Personally, I use a combination of both.

Because the edge of a straight is mucher thicker than a blade.
