Hello from Texas

Hello All,
After lurking for a long time I finally registered and look forward to participating in the conversation. I find SMF to be a very congenial and informative place.

My shaving history is much like many others, I suspect. As a young man I began shaving with a DE Gillette and did so for years. Then I moved on to twin blade cartridges and Gillette Foamy or Barbasol. When the blade count got up to three I stayed there and never did move on to the modern multi bladed contraptions. About six or seven years ago I returned to wet shaving and now get more enjoyable and much better shaves. SMF and other forums are responsible for my return to the DE razor and high quality soaps and creams. For that, I thank all of you.

Best regards,
Basil

Welcome! I'm glad you decided to join in.

I'd wager your story is the most common one. I know it's mine give or take a few minor details.

Welcome, Basil. Glad to add your voice to the community.

I'm guessing that you, Brian, and I are all roughly the same age. When I started shaving, the choice was between a Gillette DE and a Schick Injector. I started with the latter, moving on later to a Gillette DE, twin-blade, and even electric. Along the way, I also used a brush and shaving soap or cream.

I look forward to reading your posts.

TheMonk, I noticed that you tried a sample of J. Peterman 1903. I have been using it lately and think its a very good cream. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about the cream.
