Which straight razor did you use today?

Use a straight. You know it makes sense.

Thanks. I wanted to come up with something that had the appearance of being slightly "over built". I'm not a real big fan of synthetics but this is a good brush or at least is to my liking. The color is called black and yellow Damascus. I drilled an oversized hole and set it just deep enough so the fibers touched the side of the hole (26mm knot).

Nice one pass shave this morning. I missed the boat with this brush, it's too floppy for my liking. Have a good one.

Floppy or knot, it's a good-looking brush. Is that an Omega or a Semogue knot? I like the big Pro Omegas and the Semogue 2000, although I find something to like in most every boar I try.

Tim

It's a Zenith 26 x 57 IIRC, it was a better in it's original form than it is now. Sometimes you swing and miss but I should have seen it coming. I made 4 brush handles with a 4-20 theme (in my mind only ). I was making s few a handles just prior to a trip to Denver to deliver some furniture to my son and made a couple after I got back and it was over the 4-20 weekend. The last 2 are the ones pictured in the above posts.

Oscar, thanks for explaining the thought process behind your brushes.

I still have never tried a Zenith. Omegas, Semogues, and a Mondial here, but no Zenith.

I was wondering if I could pick your brain a minute. I bought a Maggard mixed 70/30 knot, 24mm. It looks like it will need a 26mm socket. I think I remember you having one of these knots. Do you mind me asking what loft you set it at and what size hole you bored for it?

Also, I like the look of that straight. Clean and simple and classic. Beautiful.
Regards,
Tim

Yes, I believe the one I have is drilled with 63/64 drill bit and I set the knot to 50mm. I do have another mixed knot that I'm going to set soon that will be set in a 26mm hole and will set that around 53-55mm but I'll use silicone so I can remove it if I don't like it.

Nice setup, Oscar. And thanks for the brush info. I wound up ordering a couple of Big Bruce brushes with the 26mm Plissoft knots. Going to steam them out and hope my 24mm mixed knots from Maggard's and APShaveCo fit. If not, it's an inexpensive experiment.
