Ny First Straight

Post by Lindy »

My uncle told me there was a straight razor at the local antique store for $20. Being that I work the same hours as the Antique Store I gave my uncle the money to just go buy it. Here it is:

It needs some clean-up, the edge is quite rough and it course needs to be made shave ready.

I do have water stones (from my wood carving) but I will have to get a strop. I'll play with it a bit before I send it out...

Cheers

Lindy,
On the side of the tang opposite the word Handmade, I can't read the writing. The name Handmade was used by the American Products Co. of Cincinatti between 1911 and 1948, and I have seen their razors with tiger stripe scales before. I think they sometimes were sold under other names, as was often done.

Lovely looking piece. And what a price.

Classic!

You may want to strongly consider sending it out for honing.
