What to do with a gift?

Post by function »

So a friend of mine that I got into wetshaving gifted me a straight (presumably from an amazon kit). The scales are pretty, but the blade has no markings, which makes me think it is of questionable quality.
I heave read enough on forums to know it is probably a blade of Pakistani origin that is more commonly used by ladies of the night in self defense than it is by shavers, but it is still a thoughtful gift.
The question is, what do I do with the razor? Do I try to hone it and use it? Do I display it to look at the pretty scales? Do I get a new(perhaps antique/vintage) blade put in it?

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
Nick

If it is a Pakistani razor, you may have less mail to read.

Hone it. There is a small chance it will shave ok.

Usually they do not, so consider it a challenge. 8)

Discreetly put it away somewhere, and unload it ( one way or another at a later date )? That's what I've tended to do with gifts of colognes and soaps that I know I'll never wear/use.

Wouldn't be ethical to sell such a dog.
