Hart Razor File Jimps

Post by Zot! »

Why does Hart Steel charge around $45 for file jimps on their straight razors? The jimps look great but they are only on the underside of the shank.

My Hart is phenomenal. I love everything about it, including the jimps. I've often wondered about the process of cutting the jimps into the shank. Getting them uniform and in exactly the right spot. If it's an extra $45, then it sounds about right. If I took a razor that didn't have jimps to someone who knew how to do it, I would bet it would cost at least that much.

I compared one with a polished blade with a satin one, so my bad.

I do see a lot of good reviews for these.

I ordered one the same day the started offering them for sale. I liked it so much I bought another 6 to make a week set.

They are nice workhorse razors.
