Polishing

Post by mattyb240 »

Hi everyone, I recently jumped on the straight shaving bandwagon, or at least the attempt to straight shave bandwagon.

I have a couple of questions, despite drying and airing my razor after use, I have some discolouration by the pin on the metal slightly black in colour. Whats the best way to get rid of this?

Second, I bought some yellow paste with my strop, but not sure when my leather strop actually needs it?

Thanks,

Matt

Black discolouration on metal is best removed with a metal polish such as Brasso, but beware there may be pits left behind where the corrosion has eaten in.

Yellow tallow paste for leather strops? Not needed at all in my view. After some years of service some neat's foot oil would be better.
