Tuesday night's SR was the Boker King Cutter 15/16. One serious razor.

5/8 Supplee Hardware SP. Made in Germany.
I found this thing in a antique/junk store
and got it for $8.00. This would have been
in 2005/06. It appeared to be unused.
While in ain't nothing to write home about
it gets the job done.

Thanks, it has one of TGN's Super Finest knots in it (first use of this knot for me). The knot is dense and very soft, a real pleasure to use. IMO, the knot should be set with a 2 to 1 ratio or sub 2-1 ratio. Mine is a 24mm knot set at 46mm. Backbone is decent but like I said, I'd stay away from higher lofts. Here's a pre bloom pic of the same knot but different handle, same specs too. That is a really nice looking brush.
Two thumbs up!!

Re: Which straight razor did you use today?
I've been back to the Hart Steel 6/8 the last few days. This is a remarkable razor in it's shaving, but just the opposite in appearance. It looks so middle of the road - round tip, unobtrusive jimps, small tang, no gold wash, just the Hart logo and name. Even being 6/8 wide is refusing to make a statement. But it's heavy and thick, a wedge that behaves exactly as a wedge should. It shaves silently and closely, although it doesn't get quite as close as a full hollow at each pass, it is more comfortable and the end result is superior given that there is no skin irritation. All in all, a very splendid razor and one I have decided to continue using until such time as boredom with routine sets me off again. I think Tim Zowada was still in charge when this one was made (it has a small fault in the hinge pin and I remember him saying it would be fixed on production models) and I can't give him enough credit for getting these razors to the market. I don't know why he left Hart Steel and I have to say it's their loss. I see the owners of Hart Steel are now selling a 7/8 version, which I shall have to try. I only hope they haven't screwed up Tim's lovely steel and grind.

Chris, you said it better than I could have. Using my Hart always makes me happy. If I eventually get another razor, if it can't be a Zowada, then I hope it will be a 7/8 Hart. I had no idea Tim Zowada was no longer associated with Hart. He used to post here but hasn't in a long time.
