Which straight razor did you use today?

Use a straight. You know it makes sense.

Which straight razor did you use today?

About half the time I use a straight razor. Today's razor of choice was the 6/8 Henkels Friodur. Combined with the old standby, COBigelow shaving cream, and the menthol jolt of Alcolado Glacial Mentholated Splash Lotion, it was as nice a shave as any. :)

Um, I used a Friodur 8/8 stainless, the same as I have used every day for the last 18 months. Yes, they are that good, when you get one of the old blanks that was ground with proper honeable geometry. Those that are left are increasingly odd.

I used a Norvell-Shapleigh Snap No. 35. I really wanted to use my Dubl Duck GE, but I've been testing the edge from a coticule on the Snap lately.

I don't have a good pic of the razor, but I'll try to get one a little later today when I go home for lunch.

As usual I used a Friodur, but this time I dinged the edge when placing it in the stand. It's so very easy to put the razor back and have one of the prongs of the fork go between the scales and touch the edge:

So hospital rounds were delayed while I honed out the ding with Shapton pro stones from 1k, then 1.5k, 2k, 5k, 8k, 15k and 30k. That'll teach me to be careless.

I have been about half and half straight vs. DE lately (new born baby = less free time = DE). But today was a nice shave after a quiet night with my Kenny Powell Custom in Crab Apple Burl.

Beautiful razor Zethlent.

Today was a Genco Fluid Steel 6/8 extra hollow roundpoint. 'One of my earliest str8s that shaves so well I can't think of parting with it.

'Got the call yesterday from Robert Williams that my turn in line is finally here. I have one fancy Williams and not that much in funds, so this one will be plain and just a wonderful shaver.

I like the 'soap in big bowl' :)

Any thoughts on the TOBS Lavender generally, lather, scent etc?

Cheers

Oscar, is that a 6/8 full hollow Red Imp? I've got a 5/8 RI Wedge made in Solingen for the Morris Mfg. Co. I haven't yet had a chance to hone it up properly for the first time, but am looking forward to doing that so I can try it out.

No, it's a 5/8. I've been looking for a 132 (wedge) but haven't been lucky enough to score one yet. I do have 2 of the 133 and they are nice shaving razors. When you get yours honed up, I'd be interested to know what you think of it.
