Getting the most out of the Escher

As a finishing stone, how many laps would be the most effective, in your experience? Is more better? Just for example the Chinese 12K is really good, if one has time to make somewhere between 100 and 200 laps.

Have you read anything about the Apache Strata (natural U.S. stone) yet? Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your escher thread but thought you might be interested.
