I tried filling up the sink once or twice. Did not work for me. I felt it to be too messy. And, even though it is kept quite clean and shiny, something about using that water that's been marinating in the vanity sink for a bit does not sit right with me. OCD, perhaps, but, it feels quite pleasant and thrifty to just turn the knob on for a second or two between passes.

If you buy the right faucet valves, it could even add to the experience, I'd say. I got one with shaving specially in mind, and it works fantastically. Great temp control, too.

I use a full sink. I also keep my bowl in it to keep it warm.

I use a lot less water that way, but cleanup can be a hassle.

Running water as needed. Makes less mess of the sink too.

Turn water on until it's hot; fill up mug, turn water off, put brush in mug.

Take out brush, hit soap, lather on face.

Turn water on to rinse off razor, turn water off. Shave and repeat.

Turn water on to rinse off face, turn water off.

Etc.

Past 2 days I shaved in the bath

I'm a sink filler. Years ago when my beard was just coming in, I used running water. Eventually, I had a hard time rinsing the stubble out of the cartridges I was using at the time (Sensor if I recall correctly) and tried filling the sink. A wiggle underwater work wonders at wrestling whisker from the cart. I've continue the same practice out of habit ever since.

I like it this way for a couple reasons -- it doesn't waste hot water, plus I can add a little something to the sink full of water. A splash of rose water or orange blossom water makes the shave more enjoyable to me.

I do admit to running the water as cold as I can after I shave as part of my post shave routine for my final rinse (and to help get the black nasties down the drain -- then follow with a bit of Drano every once in a while).

Hot water from water cooler in bowl, then put brush in bowl.

Take shower

Take brush out of bowl, put razor in bowl to warm up, load brush, lather face.

Turn on tap for a sec to rinse razor or use hot water in bowl if in the mood.

i use cold water to rinse the razor and keep a mug filled with hot water to rinse the razor in, so it doesn't feel cold on my face.

I go with the running water myself.

I run the water... I have issues with germs.

Running water in the shower, but I have it on very low flow. A related question might be: how often do you rinse? For my typical DE shave, about 3 times per pass.

That's my method. Less cleanup than using a sink full, less water waste than leaving the tap going.

I always shave after showering, so my water's already hot.

Fill up the sink one time, fill up the Moss Scuttle twice.

Hot water in the sink and scuttle. Fresh warm and cold water for rinsing off.

When starting I get the water warm, then I either half-fill the sink or soak brush under running water. Then, I half-fill my sink for each pass, just enough to scoop up some water and rinse face and rinse the razor as needed. Shave, then rinse, drain the half-sink, then refilll half the sink again, and go for another pass or two.
With running water only...I really hate the sound of it...forces me to rush I prefer silence. That's really only reason I don't use that technique.

Running water with a straight / plug in the sink with anything else.
