The Dangers of DE Razors! (Slightly Graphic)

Post by azilnik »

Hello!
Wow. I'm an idiot. I just had one of the best shaves I've ever experienced (new blade, new soap, new aftershave... mmm...)

I put all my equipment away and my finger grazes against the razor.
I think nothing of it and continue washing up until I look down and notice my finger.

A piece of skin was literally shaved off, and I was bleeding. The crazy thing is - I DIDN'T FEEL A THING. I guess it's so sharp it just sliced right through with no effort. Anyway, I'm fine, though it is bleeding through the band-aid.

I've attached some pics, and from now on, I'll invest in a razor stand so I don't leave it lying around. It's not a major injury by any means, just a warning to BE CAREFUL during shaving AS WELL AS before and after.

Yikes. Hope you heal quickly.

I had a nightmare the other night that I managed to shave a slice of skin off my face without noticing. Razors are tricky that way.

Cut myself on a blade a long time ago....was about to put it in the holder after it had worn out. Dropped the holder and foolishly tried to catch it...WITH THE HAND HOLDING THE BLADE. Stabbed my left pointer badly. I felt THAT, I tell you, and it bled like nobodies business! Took a while for the bleeding to stop, and a few weeks for the finger to heal...no stitches.

That's one of the reasons my wife was so concerned when I took DE shaving up again...she knows that sharp objects and me don't always agree.

You know, a single molecule of blood can be smelled by a shark from miles away. This is why we have scented products.

I had a paper cut that was very similar once. Nasty little bugger. I used a band-aid very similar to the one you used. Also used some ointment to keep it from getting infected. I hope you did the same...

I did something similar a while ago with a slant. I had tightened the head tighter than usual, and was wanting to get the blade out to change it. I gripped the head, gave it a twist, and it slipped out of my hand.
Just as I was thinking "Wow - lucky I didn't cut myself there..." I noticed the small puddle of blood forming on the counter. I felt absolutely nothing, and left a potato peeling size (thickness and length) piece of my skin in the razor.
I'm sure I haven't learned my lesson (that one or any other) though.
