Sweeney Todd

Post by Tim »

Great Drama on the BBC last night about the 'demon barber of fleet street'
Give a whole new meaning to the words... 'a close shave'

Loved the beginning of the programme with a close up view of ray winstons face being shaved with a straight razor

Anyone else in the UK view this?

I love British television, but unfortunetly not much of it gets over here to Canada. We have BBC Canada but its mostly filled with home-reno shows and has to have 30% canadian content also. I will keep an eye out for it though, sometimes some quality shows are shown, abeit a year behind the UK.

Scared the hell out of me, and I sell the things!

Mind you, we do have a pie shop next door in real life and have lived with the Sweeney Todd tag for the last three and a half years since buying Charnham House.

Ray Winston was brilliant and has been the main talking point in our Barber Shop today. Unfortunatley though, we have had no shaves booked in today and have not yet sold an open razor since it was screened last night....

Robert, everyone seems to be talking about last nights superb show. Thought you guys would be doing a roaring trade in straight razors after that :)

......Very gruesome buisness indeed and very atmospheric. Had me glued to the tv for the 90 minutes.........and it's a long time since that happened!

RustyBlade
It's out on DVD in febuary ( here in the UK anyway) . It's called 'The Directors Cut'.......so goodness knows what was left out last night

Gentleman,

If you would like a further helping of sweeney todd. Check out the George Hearn Angela Lansbury DVD of the broadway tour production.

he shaved the faces of gentlemen who never
there after were heard of again. He trod a path
that few have trod, did Sweeney Todd,
