Women and guns. I once handed over an unloaded antique pistol I used as a paperweight saying, "here, hold this" while I moved some papers. She held it out gingerly with two fingers in the guard, the thing dangling in the air.

Her, "what if it goes off?"

Me, "then I collect your life insurance, silly".

Chris, blowing stuff to bits has my full enthusiastic approval. If I was your neighbor I'd bring my potato gun (made by my brother), and we could treat the soaps to a good maiming prior to bringing out the heavy artillery. There aren't any innocent wooden bowls going to be involved in the shooting, I hope!

Is there a segment of the beautiful display devoted to straight razors?

Impressive!!!
I like how neat everything is. My collection takes up half a bookshelf, a few boxes, a dresser, bags, God only knows where the rest is, and it looks like a mess.
I'm waiting for the other forum doctor to show up with pictures of his 10,000 brushes collection now..............

I now owe you a sincere thank you Chris. My Wife just saw the picture of your collection, turned to me and said "well, I guess that yours isn't too out of control after all".....and then added " AND DON'T GET ANY IDEAS!!!!"
Cheers,

I'm partial to the .30-30. There's nothing quite like a nice lever rifle.

Thank you for providing additional justification to buy more shaving gear :P

Beautiful. I'll need to show this to my wife...this is pro level stuff right here.

My problem isn't so much the soaps and fragrances (although I'll admit to having a "few"), it's the brushes. Ten or fifteen years ago, I had "only" three or four brushes; now it's embarrassing (although not in the same league as drP!).

I guess that's a pretty good start, Chris.

Until tonight I thought that I had too much in my Shave Den.....

After seeing Chris's stash, I feel like an itinerant pauper who barely has enough gear to manage a weekly shave!

Very impressive, Chris. I've been waiting to see this for awhile!

Is that brick of Williams hiding out in the same room with the Woods of Windsor?

I don't know why everyone seems surprised, or impressed....or apalled. Surely we all knew what has been going on up there for ages...the buying and buying of more and more stuff ( often in bulk I might add ), but VERY little going OUT as sales. What did you expect it to look like by now, hm? Proud to see that bottle of Crown Cuir de Russie sitting there....my special contribution to the Great Northern Hoard. Only Peter's brush extravaganza and the Fisher & Company Limited warehouse are in the same league as far as I know.

I always imagined that the Shelves of shame would stand on a pedestal of Tabac and Woods of Windsor.

Chris,

I have to ask you where you buy your bowls? I enjoy the continued theme through most of your collection and its not 100 different types of bowls.

eBay.

Chris for the smaller cheaper ones (the dye in the wood runs and stains the soap). Sone of the concave sided ones are the Kingsley brand (look around - price varies a lot), and the nicest of all are rather expensive ones from Vintage Blades.

You may notice that the TOBS Eton College and St James are missing from the top shelf, even though you read of me buying them; they are on death row awaiting my persuasion of the household videographer to film me dealing with them with a 12 bore side by side sidelock shotgun, choked improved and modified (1/4 and 1/2 for you colonials). I'm thinking #6 shot should shatter them properly. I'm willing to take votes for execution with a Winchester 30-30, an M1 Carbine, or a Hawken .50cal muzzle loader. Possibly just the blackpowder itself? Sadly, she doesn't like either firearms or loud bangs, so don't get your hopes up too much.

The less bloodthirsty will be concentrating on the fact there are three wooden bowls at the bottom unaccounted for. Donations of rare and valuable soaps will be gratefully accepted!

Chris
 Good golly! Don't pull a muscle reaching for any of these!

I would like to see some pictures of your Tabac collection. Also, would like to see some pictures of Fisher's warehouse.

Nathan, Fisher & Co. exists only in Gordon's imagination. He doesn't have much, beyond the 400+ colognes he has admitted to. That's kid stuff! :)
