Anyone else done this?

Got my new JE DE89L and a best badger for Christmas. First shave was wonderful! Best I've had in years. I disassembled and cleaned the razor and put her away for next time.

Fast forward a week. Next shave wasn't so good. Couldn't seem to get the angle of attack right or something. It just refused to remove the stubble. Hmmm... this was going to take some practice.

Wait for it...

Got it out again this morning and remembering my disappointing shave last time I decided to take a closer look. That's when I noticed that the razor was flat against the lower plate!

After the first shave I had put the lower plate on upside down.

Yeah, I'm an idiot.

nope, but i've seen pics on ebay of people selling razors like that, and have heard of others doing it.

glad that's all it was...it's a beautiful razor.

I don't quite know how to say this, so I'll just spit it out...

Unless I miss my guess you did it twice. Isn't it a EJ razor?

I bet it's been a hell of a day. I'd also be willing to bet you're not the first.

I'd guess you're having some good shaves now! We all will do, or have done, some things like that. I know I have. It always makes me laugh out loud! That's how I keep myself entertained!

I'm surprised it would work well enough to shave at all.

And it just gets worse the older one gets. OK, so I tell myself it's 'cause I'm so busy. It probably is, I still know where I live though and can find home.

The other day I was looking for something I needed to complete a job. I looked all over for the darn thing. I figure somebody broke into the place ans stole it and only it. Finally I found it. Don't you know I couldn't remember what I needed it for!

Most of the time it's just frustrating , but that day, even I had to laugh out loud at myself.

We have seen plenty of DEs for sale on eBay with exactly that same assembly error. What fun.

Well, I never did that (YET) but I did have a time trying to figure out why my Parker TTO was suddenly sliceing me like a meat slicer.

Twist To Open also means Twist To CLOSE!!! All the way CLOSED! Yeah, that one let my blood pressure down a bit.

Hey Glass, welcome aboard. I've wondered, what with all the posts made over the years about loosening the razor top to rinse it clean, just how many guys picked it up the next day and forget to tighten it.

I'm gonna bet I'm not the only one!

Maybe the only one to admit it.

Hi All

I just had to register and join in when I saw this one!

I went into the bathroom and checked for spy cameras!

I did the upside down EJDE89. Agree with Squire - How'd you get any shaving done that way. I couldn't.
I did the loose top (and wondered what the funny noise on the blade was).

Also funny is that I was shaving the other morning and my wife came in and started using the hair dryer.

Have you ever tried to shave where you can't hear what the blade is doing?

I didn't realise how much I relied on aural feedback!

Anyway cheers and thanks all for all the snippets you contribute.
