FYI... If you're near IKEA
FYI... If you're near IKEA
Hiya all,
Just picked this bowl in IKEA. I use a bowl in the Winter or from time to time when I don't fell like using my face as a lathering surface. This was 5Euro here in Dublin. Amazingly it works a treat and behaves as to the Manor born. It retains heat ( I never ever understood why anyone would use a metal bowl), is easy to clean and from my little knowledge of the material; is antibacterial. Works a treat with my BK8 and GFT limes.
12 cm across and about 5 deep. Check it out.

Bamboo seems to be a pretty versatile product these days.

IKEA -- wonderful place.
With my daughter getting married in a couple of weeks, our garage had become an IKEA warehouse. Now their new apartment is becoming an IKEA assembly and staging area. Love their stuff -- tough to be the overall value they provide. I don't believe I have made a bad purchase there ever.
Bamboo does seem to be the new "be-all-do-everything" product ..... although I have heard some not so great things about bamboo flooring being susceptible to bangs and dents easily. Not sure about why or whether there are different grades of durability in bamboo flooring that would be the reason behind this idea. It sure grows like crazy, making it a presumably ideal wood replacement product. I sure like our bamboo cutting boards ---- not from IKEA, BTW .... they are great.

I wish we had an Ikea closer than 200 miles (Dallas). Our geographic location isn't quite as sophisticated as the store location demographics probably dictate. I'm sure we'll get there one of these days. On the bright side, I'm saving lots of money that would otherwise be going to Ikea.

I work less than 2 miles from an IKEA.
Would be rude not to pop in ... if it weren't my idea of Hell on Earth.
I've been in once (not by choice), and vowed to never EVER step foot in one as long as I've still got my strength and sanity.

IKEA Midsommer Midnight sale today ---- fittingly on one of the biggest days of the nordic calendar!
We might make a trip, we might not ..... we were just there on Wednesday evening for our daughter and her fiance picking up more accouterments.

Wendell, congrats on the wedding and extra good luck with assembly.

maybe just becks induced, but far too many times one got near to the end of the assembly part only to find a vital screw / part missing. These days I limit my ikea purchases to swedish meatballs and stuff thats already constructedNow their new apartment is becoming an IKEA assembly and staging area.

We've been really lucky in that department -- no missing parts or pieces. However, I have built a great deal of Mr. Kamprad's products over the years, and have developed a sense of which pieces may either be readily missing or might easily break. To that end, I have built up a collection of these items, and keep them in zip-lock bags in a large Walker's Shortbread tin which we get at Christmas time at Costco (it is the biggest shortbread container I have ever seen). As a result, I rarely run out of parts --- and have learned to always build on carpet with the box beneath you --- pine furniture is really susceptible to scratches and dents, and the foil finish on some products can be chipped off if you are not careful.
Oh IKEA - I think we are gonna give Midsummer Madness a pass this time though. For Jarno that would be juhannus Madness.
