Re: beard
I hear you.
I have worn a beard for over 40 years. For the first five years or so I didn't shave or shape. Since then, I have shaved my neck and shaped it a bit at the cheeks.
The skin on my neck is very sensitive, so I shave three nights a week. A tiny bit of stubble is hardly noticeable in the shadow of a beard, so I still look neat and well groomed. If I had to wear a closed collar and a tie, however, I would need to shave (probably just a single pass) every morning, to keep from tearing up the collars.
