John, Ah!....the Pro Glide cartridges you say? Yes, well, that would certainly make sense and that article was still right in that this is a departure from the classic 'Gillette marketing model' in that they are introducing a new razor without the usual new ( and still more expensive ) cartridge. Very well. Personally I've never bought into their riff from the first time I tried a Trac II and found that it didn't shave me as well as the DE I was already using....and then came the razor bumps. But, I tried to stay open minded and dutifully tried each new 'break through' up through the M3 Turbo at which point I just let the whole thing go. But, as you say, we do have a few members who seem to get along well with this whole multi-blade cartridge thing and for them this new gizmo may prove interesting. We shall see...

John, the point you make about manual vs. up-market branding and power option pricing is a very good one. I can easily see that someone who likes and uses the razor regularly might be pleased to move up to the Power Ball model for just a few bucks.

Can't wait to get my hands on this. I've owned every generation of the Gillette cartridge razor since it was introduced more than 40 years ago and have found each to be an improvement on its predecessor. Go Gillette!

Still not sure how this thing actually is going to pivot ...... for me it's one of those things where too much technology has created overkill.

Wendell, that was my question. If you should happen to hold one in your hand you'll see it's much simpler than one would come to believe from reading and looking at exaggerated drawings.

You'll be disappointed when you get a chance to see and touch the real thing. It's nothing much.

Apparently nothing much costs at least $12 not counting blades.

agree. My mach3 serves me better than any de razor/blade combo I've tried.

Coincidentally, this morning I heard a radio advertisement joking about this new twist by Gillette, and strongly suggesting that it would be better to join the Dollar a Month Shaving Club. No comment, as I often get a kick out of using a two or three blade cartridge to shave, and the results are always good.

There was a piece on CBS news IIRC where the reporter talked with/interviewed a Gillette scientist.

Although I think the Flexball is ridiculous, the CBS report was very interesting. I can't seem to find it (the video) online ... if I do I will post it.

I'm a sucker for gadgets so I will admit that I have pre-ordered one. Should have it by Father's Day.

Today is D-Day, gentlemen. The day that will revolutonize shaving. The Fusion ProGlide with FlexBall Technology will be on the shelves.

This video illustrates the importance of Gillette's newest invention:

I checked two local stores this morning - CVS and Walgreen's - but they hadn't yet received their shipments of the product. Walgreen's, however, had the display materials up. Will post a revew as soon as I find one and have shaved with it a time or two.
