Hello All!

Post by Slawman »

Dave Huffman here, AKA "Slawman" I live near Champaign - Urbana IL. in St. Joseph IL. I have just got into wet shaving again. I had a full beard most of my adult life.
I have been a Blacksmith in the past & made cable patern weld knives & also railroad spile knives & letter openers. Got out of that do to carpal & cubital tunnel problems & in the past 6 months got back into blade sharpening. I saw some cool straight razors on line & remembered a great uncle who used one every day so I have started a collection of vintage razors, hones & strops to use for shavint & trimming my Goa - T;-)
I am putting a sharpening shop together & may build a small gas forge to forge blanks to make straight razors from. I looks like a long road to get where I make good straight razors but that is my goal. This looks like a good place to learn.

Hey Dave, welcome aboard. If you haven't already found it you might enjoy reading "The Art of The Straight Razor Shave, A Basic Guide" by our own Dr. Christopher Moss. You'll find the full text on the home page here. Also there's lotsa stuff in our archives, the good, the bad and the ugly, but sorting through it is time well spent.
Regards,
Squire
