Anyone have recommendations for shaving towels?

Post by TheDoctor »

Can anyone recommend a brand/source of towels for shaving use?

I've seen the 12 packs of barber towels on Amazon and wondered about those.

Not depleting the household towel supply for shaving will generate goodwill and domestic tranquillity.....

Thanks,
Joby

Yes, serious shaving and domestic tranquility can peacefully co-exist, by all means buy the towels.

It's a fine line we walk when there's a significant other. Keep her mildly involved, and make sure she's never inconvenienced in any way. It's much smoother if we appear only mildly interested in it, and after many months have passed she eventually grows quite bored and completely ignores it.

I don't know the quality of any barber towels on the market so hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

If the wife has issues with the purchase of any such item get her to help you in shopping for the best deal. First identify which products you want and ask her to help get the best deal on any of them.

If you mean the small towels barbers wrap around your neck and use to rinse you off, I have used white terry janitorial rags for years. They are about 11"X16" size. Got them at Costco, but they no longer stock them here. They were wonderfully soft full clipped white terry cloth. Last time I tried to get some on-line, they were rough unclipped terry---only good for janitors rags. There are also bar towels. The nice thing about these is that you get 25 dozen for about 20 bucks. Useful for all kinds of jobs around the house and garage.

It sounds like those Amazon barber towels might fill the bill?

Homesense or Bed Bath Beyond, find a sale, get some nice plush ones for your face. A half dozen should do.

I bought 4 white hand towels at Fred Meyer for about $1.99 each. They work great. Any hand towel will work fine. Check out Shopco etc and see what you can find.

I use cheap cotton terry cloth bar wipes as my shaving towels. Get them at Wally World cheap.

Late to the party, as usual!!

You can find a variety of choices by checking out some of the on-line wholesale barber supply sites.

Try Williamsport Supply, Appleton Supply, and Atlanta Barber Supply are just a few places to find
barber towels, as well as a lot of other shaving and grooming lines like Pinaud, Jeris and the like.

Here's hoping Joby has followed up. I've been wondering if microfiber towels would work in this situation.

Gary, I tried some microfiber towels and hated my choice....no absorbency...at least compared to the old-time
herringbone design (the ones with the single green or blue stripe).

Those lint free types are also cheap---VERY cheap!
